Summary:

Mailbox Merchants® is one of the West’s largest independently-owned direct mail advertising companies. Our “Shared Mail” programs are well established in 35 markets across six western states and we are currently looking for an Inside Sales Representative to contribute to the company’s sales production by selling print and shared advertising to businesses within designated market areas via phone and Internet.

POSITION PURPOSE

Inside Sales Representative is responsible for selling print and shared advertising to businesses within designated market areas via phone and the Internet.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Sells print and shared mail to current and prospective advertisers via phone and the Internet to assigned market areas and accounts
Makes a minimum number of calls and presentations each week, making sales presentations in both a virtual environment and over the phone
Sources new sales opportunities through outbound cold calls, emails, and social selling; also identifies and develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts the markets in which they do business; solicits new accounts, builds rapport, and prepares presentations and proposals
Understands customer needs and requirements
Assesses competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends
Develops and maintains good working knowledge of all supporting departments
Meets all deadlines to ensure efficient production and timely distribution of products and programs
Maintains complete, accurate and up-to-date information on each business in assigned markets, updating in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) software on a daily basis as needed
Learns, understands, and actively uses all marketing statistics and marketing collateral necessary to inform and provide clients with pertinent data of the trade area served by shared mail and other programs
Keeps aware of and stays knowledgeable about competitive media, taking necessary steps to minimize their market share in assigned market areas
Continuously studies trends in the media and consumer behavior
Communicates with the manager in a timely manner about any account problems, credits, adjustments, or any changes in personal status that would affect daily performance
Produces work that is accurate and timely, assuming responsibility and accountability for this work
Takes initiative to accomplish objectives
Manages time effectively and is punctual and reliable
Contributes ideas on ways to streamline processes; remains open to change, improvement and the adoption of new programs and policies
Collaborates effectively with internal and external contacts, resolves customer issues in an appropriate and timely manner, and consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations
Develops collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of goals, encourages others, supports the team in a positive manner, acts as a team player in problem resolution
Supports the company goals and policies and represents the company in a positive and constructive manner

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Quota: meets or exceeds 95% of Shared Mail Quota each month as detailed in the CRM
Sales Calls: calls on the minimum number of sales calls per month, which is determined by the number of active accounts running in the current month (this position will have 30 – 40 accounts to start, and a sales call is defined as any “answered” outside call to a client or prospect with the intent of securing new or incremental business)
New Business: sells a minimum of 4 New Accounts or $3,000 each month
Reporting: updates CRM activity and pipelines on a daily basis by the end of each day
Performance Feedback: will be gathered from weekly one-on-one and team meetings, manager’s and sales development direct observation and interaction, and sales and activity reports

Compensation: Non-exempt (hourly) wage

Basic Qualifications

At least 3 years related experience with inside sales or sales in general
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Proficiency with CRM software
Ability to present information and ask questions and respond to questions from supervisors and coworkers
Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organizations
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to get along with all types of people and maintain a positive attitude
Possess strong organizational skills
Must be able to read and write English at a high school education level
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check

Other Duties

Other duties as assigned including supporting the DemoGraphix Media team with similar duties
Day shift (M - F, regular working office hours), with some overtime needed to support production deadlines and unanticipated events
