Signature Graphics is a locally-owned, full-service heatset and coldset commercial printer with direct mail advertising and graphic design businesses located in NE Portland, Oregon and Spokane, WA with approximately 160 employees. Since opening in 1984, Signature has become one of the largest printers in the Pacific Northwest, and we are currently looking for a Finishing Operator in Spokane (Airway Heights) to help with finalizing products after going through the printing phase.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Finishing Operator sets up jobs in Mailing, Bindery, or Inserting, as directed by the Finishing manager or one of the assigned leads, operating machines in the department to meet manufacturing needs.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Examines job ticket and gathers any information or instruction to produce a quality product in compliance with job specifications and timelines
Sets up machines in an efficient and timely manner
Distinguishes version codes, and differentiates between products
Ensures the right product and versions are processed in a timely manner
Observes machine operation to detect machine malfunctions
Examines finished copies and adjusts machine operation to match finished guidelines
Works in Mailing, Bindery, or Inserting as required
Helps to minimize product waste to reasonable levels
Checks all skid tags and check off sheets for any missing information
Verifies quantities, bundle counts, turns, and proper stacking configuration
Communicates any pertinent information to the next operator on the following shift
Follows all written and verbal directions and quality control procedures regarding the operation of the equipment and the quality of the final product
Compensation: Non-exempt (hourly) competitive wage, depending upon experience

Pay Range: $17 - $22 per hour
Basic Qualifications
5+ years experience operating machines/equipment in a manufacturing environment, preferably mailing, bindery and/or inserting equipment in the printing industry
Mechanical aptitude
Work as a team within the department and company
Able to read small print, speak and hear clearly
Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and/or crawl while on the job
Must be able to reach, lift, push, pull or carry objects with hands and arms
Must have dexterity of hands and fingers and good hand/eye coordination
Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance and maneuver in cramped areas
Able to repeat the same motions, to hold steady in one position and make quick and precise movements
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and rarely lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
Basic proficiency in English
Other Duties
Day shift, with some occasional overtime needed to support production deadlines and unanticipated events.
